The Christian
Centrebegan as a small
gathering of Christians meeting in a house in 1928 in the
Lace Market. It quickly became a small church, grew slowly
over the following few decades and became based at its current
premises on Talbot Street in the city centre in 1971.
Today we are a vibrant church of over
1300 people - culturally and age diverse. We meet on Sundays
for our church services, but our work extends well beyond
our meetings (link to activities and also helping others).
We seek to train and develop people of all ages and backgrounds
and to help and encourage the disadvantaged in Nottingham
and beyond.
We are a “Pentecostal”
church, part of a massive global network of similar churches.
Denominations can be both confusing and off-putting. Put simply,
denominations are different flavours of the same thing. Pentecostal
as a flavour is lively and non-traditional. As you can see
from our work helping others in Nottingham, we work in partnership
with many other churches and organisations in the region.
The Christian Centre
is led by a team of leaders. David Shearman – international
speaker and author – is the senior leader and has been
leading the church since 1977.
